About Lee Jacobs

Lee Jacobs is an entrepreneur and investor based in San Francisco.

As an investor, Lee focuses on sourcing new opportunities and helps portfolio companies raise venture capital, build valuable relationships, recruit, and specializes in being there for entrepreneurs when they need a boost of confidence.  He is particularly passionate about helping entrepreneurs from outside of the Bay area get access to the Silicon Valley ecosystem.

Lee grew up in Center City Philadelphia.  He loves the city and was excited to stay for college. While at the University of Pennsylvania, he co-founded CampusDock, an online classified marketplace designed specifically for college students.  Lee graduated in 2008 with a degree in sociology.

Shortly after graduating, Lee joined Comcast as a product manager working with Plaxo, a startup that Comcast had acquired. Lee worked on several social media products. He collaborated closely with the management team at Plaxo and one of the founders, Todd, has since become his investing partner.

The Power of Tech

In 2011 Lee founded Colingo, an early P2P language learning company. Colingo’s mission was to help provide affordable and accessible English education to people around the world.  Lee led the company’s fundraising and business development. The company went on to help thousands of people learn English and raise $2.4M from great Silicon Valley investors.

After Colingo, Lee went on to work for a top Silicon Valley seed fund called MHS Capital.  MHS Capital are investors in Thumback, Opower, Outreach, Udemy, among other leading companies.  At MHS, Lee learned a lot about what it takes to be a professional technology investor and applies the lessons he learned there in his investing today.
